Protein, protein, protein

Crickets are one of the best sources of protein in nature providing a whopping 66g of protein per 100g. That’s a staggering 2 times more protein per kg than beef, chicken, pork, lamb or salmon.- now that’s one lean little critter!

Highly Sustainable

Pick any metric you like and crickets (and other insects) will outperform all livestock in terms of their minimal impact on the environment.   Crickets require way less water, less land and less feed per kg of produce making them one of the most sustainable protein sources on the planet.

(Water stats taken from waterfootprint.org)

As crickets are cold blooded, they are energy efficient because they don’t waste energy converting feed into body heat. In fact, they produce 1400 x less CO2 and take 3800 x less water to raise than cattle.

Naturally Bio-Available

When nutrients are found in nature, they are often more beneficial and easier to absorb than when isolated and taken in a synthetic form. This is because real food contains a mixture of nutrients that work synergistically to create maximum benefit.

For example, crickets contain calcium, magnesium and potassium – nutrients that work together for maximum benefit. Together these three minerals help to control blood pressure and muscle function. The calcium helps the muscles contract, whilst the magnesium and potassium help the muscles to relax and prevent cramping. The potassium helps the body absorb the magnesium, and magnesium helps the body absorb the calcium illustrating how nature always provides the right balance of nutrients. When we start to isolate individual nutrients and take them as supplements, they are often not being taken in a way that enables the body to get maximum absorption.

Good for your gut

The latest research from The university of Wisconsin – Madison has shown that eating crickets is great for your gut.  Crickets are packed full of pre-biotics which feed your good bacteria and has been shown to increase your healthy gut bacteria and may help reduce inflammation in the body.
